Book Group

Christ Our Light Book Group will be meeting in Room C of the Parish Center from 7:30 to 9 pm on October 26 to discuss 'The Sermon on the Mount-The Key to Success in Life' by Emmet Fox.

Summary:  What did Jesus teach? Distilled from years of study and lecture, affirmed by nearly a million readers over the last fifty years, Emmet Fox's answer in The Sermon on the Mount is simple. The Bible is a "textbook of metaphysics" and the teachings of Jesus express--without dogma--a practical approach for the development of the soul and for the shaping of our lives into what we really wish them to be. For Fox, Jesus was "no sentimental dreamer, no mere dealer in empty platitudes, but the unflinching realist that only a great mystic can be.

Question of the Week

Week of October 15, 2017

Matthew 22:1-14

We offer this form of contemplative sharing for pondering Scripture while considering the question, and for the faith sharing which follows.

-  Listen/ Read (Lectio): Ponder God’s word and listen for what touches your heart.
-  Meditate (Meditatio): Notice what you notice. Allow God’s word to resonate in you.
-  Speak/Share (Oratio): Prayerfully share with the group your thoughts and feelings.
-  Rest in God’s presence (Contemplatio): Notice God’s presence and be still, surrounded by God’s love.

How can you receive and accept God's invitation to Eucharist, sacraments, prayer, or doing something pleasing to God and helpful to others?

What is one gift you can give to God and name one gift you receive from God?
