Miracle in Rwanda

Reserve your seat now! Miracle in Rwanda April 6, 2019 7:00 PM

This one-woman play tells the incredible story of Rwandan genocide survivor Immaculée Ilibagiza, a modern day messenger of hope and forgiveness. Actress Leslie Lewis portrays the story of this amazing woman spending 91 days in hiding with six other woman in a small bathroom. Prayer leads her beyond fear and rage to a deep, intimate connection to God and ultimately to freedom.

This off-broadway show has received great acclaim in its run to being named the Official Artistic Representation for the 25th Anniversary of the Rwandan Genocide. The United Nations remembers this event each year on April 7, in hopes that we "nurture the courage to care and the resolve to act...and ensure that what happened in Rwanda is never repeated, anywhere, every again.”

Christ Our Light has secured a special performance for our parish in New York City with a reception with the actress after the show. Tickets are $60 each. Bus transportation is an additional $35. Seating is limited; a maximum of 80 tickets will be sold. Reserve your ticket here or contacting Cathy Johnson, This email address is being protected from spambots. Question of the Week

Week of February 17, 2019

Lk 6:17, 20-26

How do the “woes” in this Gospel give you pause?

We offer this form of contemplative sharing for pondering Scripture while considering the question, and for the faith sharing which follows.

-  Listen/ Read (Lectio): Ponder God’s word and listen for what touches your heart.
-  Meditate (Meditatio): Notice what you notice. Allow God’s word to resonate in you.
-  Speak/Share (Oratio): Prayerfully share with the group your thoughts and feelings.
-  Rest in God’s presence (Contemplatio): Notice God’s presence and be still, surrounded by God’s love.

In what way are you serving the poor, as Jesus did?

When have you helped bring God’s love to someone who was sad, or hungry, or whom others made fun of? Share what happened when you did.
