Baptism Preparation sessions are intended to support parents as they prepare for the Sacrament of Baptism. The program provides a welcoming environment that is structured around small group sharing and discussions. Parish members serve as facilitators. Individuals interested in joining the facilitation team are always welcome.

Christ Our Light offers VBS to children aged 4 years to entering 5th grade. Volunteer help is needed to lead groups of children through activities, prepare refreshments, assist with arts and crafts, games, and skits. VBS runs from Monday through Friday, 9:00am – noon one week in July.

Those who facilitate this ministry proclaim the Sunday readings to children 5 years of age to approximately 12 years of age during the 8:30a.m. and 10:30a.m. Sunday Mass. Following the Opening Prayer, the children are dismissed to the Ministry Center of the church. Adult facilitators proclaim the day’s Scripture reading and encourage the children to participate in an interactive homily.

The Elementary Faith Formation offered at Christ Our Light strives to be in partnership with parents in the religious instruction and faith formation of children in grades Pre-K through 6 in an effort to realize the development of responsible, respectful persons who celebrate God’s love. Classes are offered on Monday afternoons, grade 1-6, Tuesday afternoons, grades 1-4, Wednesday evenings, grade 5-6, and Sunday morning, Pre-K.

Catechists share their faith through a planned and guided curriculum with students in grades Pre-K through 6. Catechists may or may not be experienced professional teachers.

Can’t make a weekly commitment? – The EFF Office appreciates substitute catechists who are available to occasionally share their faith with a class. Guides and resources are made available to assist you.
COMPANION CATECHISTS – Christ Our Light welcomes students with Special Needs to our Elementary Faith Formation classes. Some children with learning and / or developmental concerns benefit from one on one assistance in the classroom. “Companion catechists” work with a specific child while participating in a regular classroom with a lead teacher conducting the week’s lesson. Marriage preparation is more than planning for a wedding. It is preparing for a lifelong commitment in marriage. One of the best ways to be successful in something is to be mentored by people who do it well. There are couples in our community whose faith and experience in marriage provide such an opportunity and so they meet with engaged couples as a mentoring couple. The mentoring couple will be in regular contact which includes three face to face meetings. The intent is for the mentoring couple o be a guide who facilitates a deeper awareness and further discussion of the key elements for a successful marriage.
